10 Ways Your Small Business Can Save!

For small businesses, pinching pennies can be painful. Thankfully, there are simple ways to save money for your business and start benefitting right away from your thrifty thinking. You can begin by balancing your budget and separating your personal expenses from your business expenses.

Are you ready for more? Here are 10 ways to help your small business save!

  1. There are plenty of free/affordable networking events and workshops in the community. You can check with your local chamber of commerce and BBB for events and opportunities.
  2. If you attended college, connect with your alma mater. There are often free networking events for alumni. Offer to speak at an event!
  3. Find a like-minded partner or fellow business owner to help you co-host a networking event. This will assist with the cost and double your exposure.
  4. Reward yourself by choosing credit or gas cards with cash back points or programs. The same holds true for hotel and airline loyalty programs. If you plan on traveling often for your business, a little research can go a long way with saving money and earning perks.
  5. Consider joining a wholesale shopping club. Office supplies can be cheaper when purchased in bulk. If you’re interested in a membership, request a business account. Just remember to keep it separate from your personal account so you can better track your spending.
  6. Take advantage of universities in your area. Recent college graduates are often eager to start working with their new skill sets. Many college students are also constantly looking for internships and can benefit your business with their time and knowledge.
  7. For younger businesses or businesses without a physical office space, consider utilizing community workspaces. Some coffee shops or local businesses offer spaces that businesses can rent or meet in for free.
  8. Be willing to invest time with free online tools. Your smartphone can be great for posting pictures of your product/completed jobs, or even as a recording tool for short videos. Popular social networking sites are free to join, and can offer cheap advertising. Managing your online presence is an easy way to market your business.
  9. Periodically circle back to internet, cable, and cell phone service providers. At the start of a new quarter, there are often promotions or a credit you may qualify for, especially if you’re a loyal client.
  10. Register with your BBB to gain visibility. Do you qualify to be an Accredited Business with a trusted brand? Contact your BBB to learn what it takes to become part of a community of trustworthy businesses.
